Conditions We Treat

Gamma Knife®

The Gamma Knife isn’t actually a knife. It is used without surgery and while you are awake. It directs up to 201 beams of gamma radiation, with pinpoint accuracy, at an abnormality within the brain.

Because the beams are concentrated and so carefully targeted, the rays provide enough radiation to treat the diseased area effectively, while the low intensity of each individual beam prevents the healthy brain tissue around it from being damaged.

Gamma Knife doesn’t move during treatment, so it’s extremely precise, allowing surgeons to develop a highly customized treatment plan for each patient.
